Certifying that AI is built and used responsibly.

Etika is the independent certification authority for artificial intelligence. We certify organisations that build AI against the AIMSS standard, and organisations that use AI against the Ethical Use standard.

The Etika Blue Ribbon — the mark of certified AI

Two tracks, one standard of trust

Whether you build AI or rely on it.

Track 01 · AI Builders

AIMSS Certification

Earn the Blue Ribbon by passing the AIMSS certification — a full management-system examination scoped to your organisation's scale, systems, and risk.

Track 02 · Businesses Using AI

Ethical Use Certification

The Ethical Use mark proves that the AI tools your firm procures and deploys are governed, disclosed, and overseen responsibly.

What we measure

Four domains industry needs AI to get right.

Ethics

Independent ethics review for every certified system, with binding override mechanisms.

Climate

Verified accounting of training and inference emissions, with reduction targets.

Labour

Safe conditions for data workers, contractors, and red-teamers — psychological safeguards included.

Society

Misuse, dual-use, and market-power assessments at every lifecycle stage.

The Etika Integrity Programme

Certification doesn't end on the day the ribbon is issued.

Every Etika Blue Ribbon is backed by a continuous integrity programme: unannounced surveillance visits, a public complaints register, and a required Ethics & Safety Culture review at every recertification.

Unannounced surveillance

At least one surveillance visit per certification period happens without notice. Refusing entry is grounds for immediate suspension.

Public complaints register

Anyone — employee, customer, affected resident — can file a complaint. Substantive complaints are investigated and recorded publicly.

Ethics & Safety Culture review

Assessors interview engineers and frontline operators, not just management, to verify the standard is lived, not just documented.

Suspension & withdrawal register

Every suspension, withdrawal, and reinstatement is published in the same registry as the active certifications.
